Call Sheet

Location Scouting

Shooting Checklist

Filming Process log post 2

Due to our time constraints we had decided to change our location for the church scene to St Mary's church, on church street. This was due to the fact time was getting too short and we needed a rough edit of footage as soon as we could. It was a perfect location as it had everything we needed and was just across the road from the school. The shots we took within the church we are happy with all though we believe that we may have to reshoot the focus pulls as we believe that they don't work, however we may be able to save time by editing the shots to how we would like it by cutting the shot and making the focus pull itself a little bit longer.

We have also noticed after watching the rough draft that the lip sync dub is not in time, but this was our first attempt and we were not determined to keep this footage as we have all ready planned to reshoot the scene with the character in costume.

Also we now have a few more locations we would like to shoot so this weekend we are setting personal plans aside and getting our footage from 'Up the Bracket Alley' and our new locations in the Barbican and near the South Bank, we may even use iconic buildings.

Filming Process log post 1

Due to illnesses from both of us within our partnership we have become behind schedule with our filming, as on our only day where both of us were well enough to film we could not due to bad weather. However we have managed to get a few goods shots of the location alone to help us build ideas to further our shot list and we have decided on our last two locations. We are fully prepared to shoot we just now need to find the time and get it done. Hopefully this will happen by the end of the week even though my partner is currently ill there is hope that he becomes well enough to shoot the whole film before the week is out.

After seeing this look on life he feels that bad is a part of the perfect life and that we all have to do one major thing in our lives that we regret and that we are never proud of. He ponders on this thought for some time and thinks that he should commit one of the biggest crimes but would never be suspected due to the life he has led and this would be his one terrible thing. He sets up the master plan to assassinate one of the leading figures of society who watches over and protects the city’s citizens as this would lead to pure havoc and desperation among everyone. He studies and researches the figures movements, lifestyle, vantage points and the life they lead to find the perfect time to attack. In the end he manages to successfully kill the figure but with a cost, it seems this perfect guy did not prepare or expect the worst. Preliminary Task

For our sake of getting used to planning, managing, constructing, filming and editing film we were given a short prelim task where we had to film a character who would enter a room and then would exchange a couple of lines of dialogue to the person in the room. To successfully complete this task we had to plan each step through in groups.

We first started with the storyline and basis of characters deciding whom the characters were and what they would be like, this would later on help us with the lines of dialogue. We then decide how we would film our short piece and what shots we would use. After discussing the shots we were going to use we wrote them down into a shot list and started to prepare for the next step the storyboard. In our groups we had taken all our ideas of shots and the storyline all together and made it into a story board so we have a clear idea of what shots we need and how does the beginning, middle and end all piece together. Once all this preparation we were ready to film.

As we were a group of three and we needed two on screen actors we had to decide who would get what job. I was given cameraman to film whole piece and the other two were given the acting roles, however we able to help with shots and make suggestions of shots used and how the film would be edited.

During editing our group had come across many technical problems with final cut pro the program itself opening or working and there was loads of hard drive trouble with the computers making editing a group effort because only one computer was working. As a group we watched our footage and cut each clip out separately so we had each scene recorded a few times to pick the best one. After sitting watching and discussing the clips we put all the clips together to make it one smooth film.

The whole project taught me more about camera angles, positions and what shots work well within dialogue. In final cut pro I learnt how to cut copy paste stick and edit footage taken and making it into one film.
